personal project no. 1

uni KURU TOGA 0.5 is my favourite pencil
One of my goals this year was to be more motivated about my personal projects. Such as making the header/title for this blog! So for now it's an early 1900s type gleaned from Design Connoisseur (Heller; Fili). I try to keep the look of this blog fairly simple because I wish to keep the content the primary focus. The title and typography may change eventually, because I am The Worst at naming blogs/anything.

It's nice to do type by hand even if it is for a small project. At work I mainly use a totally different kind of typography skill set (lots of comic book etc stuff (no Comic Sans, I might add)).

This was fun to make though!

Skellyton Fun

First thing I make in 2012...is absolutley silly!
Abusing pearlescent acrylic ink. I found that I had bought manyyy different kinds of this ink; for what purpose I do not know. But now that I have found it, I may try and make everything shiny. They do not scan well, but photograph OK.
Also painted Iron Man, because the Volcano Red and Mazuma Gold paint was calling to me...!
PS: skeletons like this are better enjoyed if you accept the artist cannot draw such a thing precisely from memory.

January, Again

One year ago today I made my first post on here! The post was about my first ever printed work, concerning dinosaurs. So I thought another post about an appearance in a publication would be fitting. This time it is in "Best of Greeting Cards" by zeixs publishing, a German company. I am not sure what it is exactly "the best of", but it is nice to see something I made somewhere where others might see it.

Since last year my other things that have ended up on paper have been work related, so, advertisements for toys in a giant comics catalog that is released monthly.

I must be awake in a few hours, so I made this post quick! Maybe before 2013 I will get around to making a proper blog banner and posting more art-things.

Hope 2012 is a good year!
